This Easy-to-Follow Makeup Tutorial Is Giving Off Major Y2K Vibes
May 31, 2022In case you missed it, 2000s beauty trends are back and better than ever. We’re most definitely still here for the frosty pastel eye makeup and butterfly clips, except this time, we’re making sure to add our own modern twist (think: graphic liner). So, grab your lip gloss and your colorful eyeliner, because we’re breaking down how to get this elevated, Y2K-inspired makeup look created by makeup artist Jonet Williamson, ahead.
-
STEP 1:
Prime and Set
To ensure that your eyelids don't get oily and cause the eyeliner to slip and crease, apply an eyelid primer, like the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Once it’s dry, brush a nude shadow overtop to set it.
-
STEP 2:
Just Wing It
Next, grab a black liquid eyeliner, like the NYX Professional Makeup Epic Wear Waterproof Liquid Liner in Black. Create your wing on the upper lash line and bring it down half way under the lower lash line.
-
STEP 3:
Get Graphic With It
Using the NYX Professional Makeup Epic Wear Waterproof LiquidLiner in Lilac, draw an arch just above the crease starting at the inner corner of the eyes and working your way towards the outer corner. Re-trace the line a few times at the outer corner to make it thicker.
Then, connect the purple arch and the black wing at the outer corner. You can either keep the lid bare or fill it in with a shimmery eyeshadow, like the IT Cosmetics Superhero No-Tug Waterproof Eyeshadow Stick in Epic Amethyst.
-
STEP 4:
Top It Off
Finish the look with mascara and plenty of gloss (we love the Lancôme Juicy Tubes). Oh, and add butterfly clips to your hair to complete the nostalgic look.
