Expert Advice: How to Fake Fuller Lips with Lip Liner
Unless you’re blessed with naturally thick, plumped lips, there’s a fair chance you’ve Googled, “how to make my lips look bigger” at one point or another. Even the best plumping lip glosses can only do so much and oftentimes, the answer is one of the most feared beauty products: lip liner. Though it can be intimidating, overlined lip liner is the way to achieve that fuller-lip look — and yes, there’s a way to pull it off without looking like you’re straight out of a comic book.
Ahead, M Crowd influencer and beauty vlogger Julia Salvia shares how she fakes fuller and bigger lips without injections, just makeup. Check out all six, easy steps, ahead.
How to Get the Look:
STEP 1: Apply a lip serum all over your lips and once they’re dry, apply lip balm to make them smooth and hydrated.
STEP 2: Grab two different lip liners: a lighter shade and a darker one. Julia Salvia uses Lancôme Le Lipstique Lip Contouring Stick in Sheer Raspberry for her light shade and Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Nighthawk for her darker shade.
STEP 3: Start with your lighter lip pencil, which should be close to a sheer color to match your lips. Follow along your lip line, taking the liner to the absolute edge of your lips. Once you get to the center of your lips, apply the liner a little bit below your lip line.
STEP 4: Taking your darker lip pencil, stay on your lip line on the outside edges of your lips to keep your natural shape. As you move towards the center of your lips, extend your lip liner a little below your lips. Bring the darker lip liner in at the corners of your lips to create an ombre look.
STEP 6: For lipstick, Julia uses Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Nuit & Jour. Apply to the center of your lips and then with the top of your lipstick, blend it into your lip liner.
STEP 7: Optional: Go back in with your lip liner to fix your lines or add a little bit more of the darker lip liner.
STEP 8: Finish with a plumping lip gloss like Lancôme Prismatic Plump in Luminescent. Apply to just the center of your lips to accentuate them and make your lips appear even bigger.
